Thing-a-Day Jan 23 #30 - Schedule Shift

Alrighty. As it stands, my blogging schedule is as follows:

Having survived [in one more post after this] another Thing-a-Day, I've found myself quite dissatisfied with the schedule for many reasons. [Random gripe in real-time: Fuck, I'm cold! Been this way since I quit drinking Rockstars.] Let me break it down by bullet points. Afterward, I have a little bit to say about Wikidot.

  • Shit Sunday was fine because it opened me up to discussing alternative viewpoints.
    • I'm likely going to keep Shit Sundays.
  • Work Rant Monday was the day I called an audible on the most [4/5, this post included] because I really don't have a lot to complain about at my job that can't be easily resolved. As I mentioned previously, if an issue comes up, I resolve it.
    • I'm not going to keep WRM.
  • Things About Me Tuesday are fine because it helps me open up and experiment with this new-to-me concept of willingly sharing.
    • As uncomfortable as it is, I'm keeping TAMT for cathartic and therapeutic reasons.
  • Writer's Wednesday was fun, but it was also a bit stressful trying to write something off-the-cuff based on a simple randomized prompt generator. I loved every minute of it!
    • I'm keeping WW.
  • Throwback Thursday... Hate it. If I'm gonna reminisce about something, I'll do it on my own godsdamned time, thankyouverymuch.
    • Yeeting TbT into the fucking sun.
  • Fuckit Friday is something that's always on the fence for me. Again, I'm not as intentionally inflammatory as I once was, and that's likely not going to change.
    • I'm keeping FiF but going to re-contextualize it to be, "Eh, fuckit. I'm gonna just write about whatever is on my mind at the time."
  • StoryTime Saturday was probably my favorite part because it forced me to sit and confront my writer's block head-on. This blog has been a pickaxe for me.
    • Keeping it, obviously.
So, there you have it. If you have any suggestions about what to replace WRM and TbT with, let me know either in the comments here or on my Facebook page!

On to the little ramble about Wikidot:

Man, I miss the customizable format of Wikidot. With a few lines of code in the CSS here, a few includes there, a handful of images either made by me or found under CC-by-SA, I was able to build something that looked quite easy on the eyes and was easy for me to use. Here, every time I want to italicize something, I have to roll my mouse up to the top of the page and hit the little icon //or// hit ctrl-i. On Wikidot, it's as simple as putting two forward slashes around the words //like this.// [See, this paragraph wasn't italicized when I saved the draft and walked away for ten minutes, but here we are! The fuck... I'm leaving this as a reminder of failure.]

There's also the odd-ass issue of formatting overall! Here, it automatically adds an extra linespace between paragraphs... unless it doesn't, which is the case of this entry. I can't figure it out, and because it's closed-fucking-source, I'm completely powerless to troubleshoot it!

On top of that, with exception to a few of my projects, I hate using templates and not being able to customize them. I'd prefer to build from the ground up, obviously, but this is ridiculous.

Oh, shit, okay! I guess I do have one angry rant left in me. Maybe this pisses me off enough to where I'll dump BlogSpot and go back to Wikidot. If it weren't so broken, I'd go back in a heartbeat! Who knows... give it a few months, and I'll probably move back.
